Ration Card Latest Update 2024-25 : Ration Card E-kyc Online Process

Government of India has made many changes related to ration card which will be implemented from 1st January 2025.

The only reason for the government to change the ration card is so that the customers get accurate and uniform ration. The government wants to clarify whether equal ration reaches the needy or not. With this new change, Santa Rogo can update his ration card and follow some other new rules and avail some other ration card scheme.

It has been announced by the government that if the ration card holder does not follow these new rules and does not update the ration card, their ration card will be cancelled.

General Outline of Ration Card Assistance

  • Name of Scheme : (NFSA) National Food Security Act
  • Benefit : 5 kg free food grains per 1 person per month
  • Scheme Tenure : 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2028
  • Total Expenses : Rs. 11.8 lakh crore
  • Important Date : 1st January, 2025
  • Candidate Beneficiaries: Around 80 crore people
  • Application Mode: Both Online and Offline

What are the rules changed in ration card by the government?

  1. E-KYC (E-KYC): Ration card holders will have to do e-KYC compulsorily by the last date:- 31 December 2024 before which all ration card holders will have to do E-KYC otherwise their ration card will be closed.
  2. To change the income minimum: The annual income of the ration card holders living in the village should be up to 2 lakhs. Ration card holders living in the city should have an annual income of 3 lakh soji.
  3. Property Limitation: If the holders living in the village have more than 100 square meters of land then they cannot participate in this scheme. Candidates who live in urban areas and own more than 100 meters and more than one flat or house will not be able to avail this scheme.
  4. Means of transport: The holder living in the village who owns a tractor or a four-wheeler will not be able to take advantage of this scheme.

Different Types of Ration Card

  • PHH (Priority Household) Card; This ration card is given to the person whose family comes below the poverty line.
  • AAY(Antyodaya Anna Yojana) Card: This ration card is given to the person whose family is extremely poor
  • NPHH (Non-Priority Families) Card: A person whose family comes above the poverty line but still receives subsidized ration.

Benefits of Ration Card Scheme

  • Cheap rations: Wheat, rice, sugar are available at cheap prices.
  • Benefits of some other government schemes: Ration card is an important document to avail some other government schemes
  • Personal Identity Card: Ration card is also useful as an Indian identity card.
  • Subsidy on Gas Bulla: Avail subsidy on LPG gas bulla Ration card is useful
  • Medical Insurance :- Ration card is useful for the family to avail medical insurance issued by the government.

What changes have been made in the ration card?

  • The wheat and rice portion of the ration issued through the ration card has been changed with effect from January 1, 2025.
  • Initially, ration card holders were given three kg of rice and two kg of wheat, but now two points will be given to five kg of rice and two kg of wheat

In which the portion of rice will be reduced by 0.5 kg.

Change for AAY (Anthyodayanna Ration Card Candidates

  • Initially this ration card candidate was given 14 kg wheat and 21 kg rice but now 18 kg rice and 17 kg wheat will be given.
  • Thus the total amount of ration given has been increased to 35 kg.
  • Ration card holders have to do e-KYC. This process can be done both online and through offer. Ration card holders themselves can also do this through their smart mobiles.

Online Process To E-KYC

  • First of all visit the official website of food department
  • After that the ration holders have to add their Aadhaar card details.
  • Then check that you will receive an OTP
  • After receiving the OTP, check and submit any of your requested documents.

Offline Process To E-KYC

Ration card holders can get this e-KYC done by going to a cheap grain shop (katol) or a computer operator or a Common Service Center (CSC) near their residence.

  • Last Date for Ration Card E KYC (e-KYC):- 31 December 2024
  • After that, according to the changes made in the ration card, the new rules will be followed from January 1,2025.

Main reasons for closure of candidate’s ration card

  • Providing false information
  • Not updating the ration card and if E-KYC is not done
  • When the income is more than the given minimum limit
  • No. of people having property more than the property given above
  • People with vehicles like four wheelers, tractors

Changes brought about by new rules

Improvement in clarity:- E-KYC and digitalization will bring clarity in the system.

Marketing properly :- Needy people get proper ration or not. And only Diwa people deserve this benefit. Holders will stop being kept in the dark False ration cards will be banned.
